Luis Camnitzer (*1937 in Lübeck) wuchs in Uruguay auf, wo er von 1953 bis 1962 Skulptur, Architektur und Druckgraphik an der Universidad de la República studierte. Seit 1964 lebt und arbeitet er als Künstler, Pädagoge, Kritiker und Kunsttheoretiker in New York.
